What is Testosterone?
Testosterone is a hormone produced mainly in the testicles which helps maintain a man’s sex drive, muscle mass, fat distribution, bone density, and body hair.
As men get older testosterone levels gradually decline, typically about 1 percent a year after the age of 30 or 40. In addition, certain medical conditions such as heart, kidney, and liver disease, diabetes, and obesity are contributing factors.
Signs and symptoms of low testosterone are similar to those faced by women undergoing menopause. These include changes in sexual function such as low libido, increased body fat, difficulty maintaining muscle strength, decreased bone density, hair loss, and emotional changes such as fatigue and difficulty concentrating.
Low testosterone is diagnosed by a combination of symptoms and a blood test. If you have low testosterone, this is easily treated. Treatment options range include lifestyle changes, daily gels or testosterone pellets placed under the skin that last 3-4 months.
Men with low T who are treated feel better, with better concentration, and higher libido and energy levels. This can be a vast improvement to their quality of life!
